The kindergarten through eighth grade science program is designed to provide students with timely and updated scientific information in an engaging learning environment. Concepts in biology, geology, environmental science, physics, chemistry, engineering, health, and foundation skills are introduced and developed throughout a student's time at Urban Day.
Critical thinking and problem solving are essential elements of the program. While conducting labs, observing demonstrations, participating in discussions, and engaging in research, students are asked to formulate hypotheses, prepare written summaries of their results, and arrive at conclusions that are both original and reasonable.
As students move through the Elementary and Middle School they will learn how to formulate questions, make predictions, conduct investigations, collect and analyze data, draw and evaluate conclusions, and present information. Driven by their curiosity for the unknown, their enthusiasm of investigation, and their joy of discovery, the students are able to apply their skills through participation in our annual Science Fair.
